KEYHOLDER RESPONSE
KEYHOLDER RESPONSE
When an intruder alarm is triggered a response is needed from the owner or a designated keyholder and the police depending on the level of cover.
Being a keyholder is a responsible role and it is important that should a keyholder response be required your keyholder is able to respond quickly.
How does a keyholder response work?
When an intruder alarm system is put in place an integrated communication system can be installed that sends information to an Alarm Response Centre.
The Alarm Receiving Centre will monitor the alarm 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Should the intruder or CCTV system generate an alarm condition the Alarm Receiving Centre will alert the keyholder, who is expected to respond within 20 minutes.
Choosing a keyholder
Many organisations have a number of keyholders, which will be contacted in an order of priority in the event of an alarm being triggered.
Keyholders need to live within a 20-minute driving distance of the premises and also need to be confident in responding to an alert. While this suits many business owners, using a professional keyholder service is a good option.
With the need to meet response times, the possibility of dealing with a break-in and being ready to drive at all times a sensible choice can be to have a security firm act as priority keyholder.
Cress Security can act as keyholder for premises located within a 20-minute distance of our headquarters in Stafford.

Avoiding unnecessary alarms
Maintenance is hugely important to keyholder response as the last thing you want is unnecessary call outs due to false alarms.
In the case of a police response being in place, three false alarms within the space of 12 months will actually see the level of response downgraded so it is essential to have a good maintenance contract in place to pick up and repair any problems.
Regular servicing of your intruder alarm will make sure that your security system is in good working order and will help to cut any false alarms and unnecessary keyholder response alerts.
